Obituary of Thomas Blandy, architect of Dwight Marvin Library

Thomas Blandy, whose design of the Dwight Marvin Library in 1970 received national recognition, passed away. His obituary is online. The building was the first pre-stressed concrete building in the Capital District.

Tom is survived by his children and his wife, Susan Griswold Blandy, who received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship before she retired as a Hudson Valley librarian and adjunct faculty in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences. Tom and Susan are well known for their civic leadership in Troy and Rensselaer County.

2020 is the 50th anniversary of the Dwight Marvin Library. Celebratory events scheduled for earlier in the year were postponed.
